Who We Are

Sam Whitney, Owner and President
After obtaining a B.S. degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Michigan State University in 1977, Sam Whitney worked in several nurseries and obtained an Advanced California Certified Nurseryman’s status before beginning a gardening venture in 1984. As gardening turned into landscaping, Sam obtained his Landscape Contractors license in 1992; he soon became owner and President of Samscaping, Inc and joined the CLCA in 1993 with just one employee. Since then the company has continued to grow with 25 employees including an exceptional Administrative staff, Installation team and Design team. Sam has also had the pleasure of serving as one of the CLCA’s San Francisco Bay Area chapter Presidents. Sam has also graciously earned numerous Landscape Design and Construction awards at the local and state level.

Enrica Vasta, Assistant Designer
Enrica supports the entire team to ensure design quality and personalized service to our clients. She assists with schematic designs and construction drawings, site analysis, cost estimating, field/crew coordination and office maintenance. Enrica has a Landscape Architecture degree from UC Davis and has worked in the business for 10 years.
